THE WEDDING

The Venue

We are getting married outside on the grounds of the Ridgeland Mansion, once the home of the unisex swimsuit baron, Ridgeland T. Mansion III (okay, that last part might not be true).

Since 2007, it has been the headquarters of The Cancer Support Community of Greater Philadelphia (that part is true).   The rental fees go to this noble group.

Shuttles will be driving back and forth between the venue and the Westin (even if you're not staying at the Westin, it is walkable from most of Center City and easily accessible by public transportation).  There is also limited parking available if you have a designated driver.

That said, we recommend taking the shuttles.  And not just because the shuttles are school buses.  But the shuttles are school buses.

The Ceremony

Saturday, May 28, 2016 at five o'clock in the evening.

(Is "o'clock" spelled out for any reason other

than to announce the time of a wedding?)

Adrienne and David will undergo a civil, self-uniting, ceremony with the assistance of family and friends.

At least, we hope it will be a civil ceremony.  Incivility is not recommended until after the ceremony, at which point it is encouraged.

The Reception

After the ceremony, we'll have a cocktail hour that includes lawn games, cocktails, appetizers, cocktails, good times, and cocktails.  There will be a tent if you need to escape the sun (or if we're a bit less lucky, the rain).  Please note that if it rains, the entire wedding will take place under the (large) tent.

The party officially goes until 11:00 and we hope that you'll stay and dance, but shuttles will start making the return trip to the Westin (and we may be able to add additional stops) at 9:oo.

The Food

We're not fancy people, but we love delicious food.  Thus, dinner will consist of choice options from Philadelphia's finest food trucks.  We will have a variety of wood-fired pizzas and tapas-style farm-to-table foods, so pick what you'd like and enjoy!

Don't worry... we will have fancy drinks.  I said we're not fancy people, but I didn't say we were barbarians.

This fancy platter illustrates one of the many ways in which food will not be served.  But who wants a metal shield between one's meal and one's mouth?

The Dress Code

Outdoor wedding casual.  The most important thing is that you're comfortable!  No need to be too fancy.  You may be on grass for much of the evening, so sandals are fine and uncomfortable shoes are contraindicated.  Very long dresses or pointy heels will likely be problematic if the ground is wet.  The temperature in the Northeastern US can be pretty variable in May, so layers can come in handy.

Abstract

Adrienne and David are getting married on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 5:00 PM in Philadelphia, PA.  There will be dinner, drinks, dancing, and fun.  There will also be a pre-wedding dinner Friday, May 27, on the deck of the Ben Franklin yacht (see bottom of page for more info).

Friday Night

For our guests able to join us the night before the wedding, please help us celebrate on the deck of the Ben Franklin yacht!  Dinner is from 6 to 9pm.  Boarding starts at 5:30 but the The Ben Franklin will only leave the dock for the middle hour or so (not before 7pm), for guests who need to arrive late or leave early.

The Ben Franklin docks at 401 N Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19123.  Public transportation recommended; from Center City, take the Market Frankford line toward Frankford and get off at the Spring Garden station.  The Ben Franklin is about a seven-minute walk from there.  Parking is available nearby for five dollars.

Dress for Friday night is causual!
